“Digitalization is transforming supply-chain from a technology-enabled process to a technology-centric one,” begins Hannah Testani, COO of Intelligent Audit (IA)—a technology leader in parcel and freight audit, business intelligence, and transportation spend optimization. Industry leaders predict that the growth and evolution of the supply chain will be characterized by increasing adoption of technology solutions to automate processes, improve efficiency, and increase visibility. Along these lines, IA has been transforming the shipping industry by providing companies with valuable analytics and insights to help enable smarter and more efficient shipping practices. The numbers speak for themselves; IA has helped thousands of customers across all industry verticals uncover opportunities for significant cost reduction through its array of solutions touching automated freight audit, business intelligence, and network optimization tools.
As an industry full of interdependencies, multiple operations are carried out during the shipping process and each step generates massive amounts of raw data. However, without sophisticated data normalization and a robust audit platform, this data is of little use to shippers. This is where IA steps in with its proprietary audit technology capable of automatically reviewing, verifying, and validating all kinds of shipments for billing discrepancies. “We partner with our customers, receive their data, and then do the complete audit. The first step is the most critical part of the process. As soon as we receive data, we cleanse it, normalize it, and visualize it to empower our clients to leverage the information to identify smarter ways to ship,” says Hannah. As the solution is data and industry agnostic and supports all modes and carriers worldwide, Intelligent Audit is capable of catering to the complex auditing processes of its diverse clientele. Clients also benefit from the expertise of IA’s account advisors who act as strategic partners, rather than administrative overseers.
At Intelligent Audit, we empower our clients to leverage their shipping data to identify smarter ways to optimize their operations in the most cost-effective – and scalable – manner
By continuously monitoring the internal and external business environment, IA’s account advisors proactively uncover new opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
In addition to supporting shippers, IA offers its solution to improve billing and audit processes for some of the largest global third-party logistics companies (3PLs). The 3PL model streamlines the entire billing process by automating carrier invoice auditing, client-invoice rerating, and general ledger (GL) coding. The two primary data sets utilized in the process are carrier invoices and shipping feeds. Upon receiving a carrier invoice, IA combines it with shipping information and performs a robust audit to identify issues. In the event of a dispute, IA’s audit team work directly with carriers on behalf of its clients to resolve the issue.
When it comes to shipping, a lot can happen to a package while it is in transit and “exceptions” often occur—which is a point of frustration for every shipper. IA’s reporting tools provide real-time visibility to all transit activity and exceptions along with the recommended actions that shippers should take to mitigate the negative impact carrier have on their customer experience.
The sophistication and applicability of IA’s technology is best understood by looking at one recent use case. Petco, a leading specialty pet retailer, was looking for a tool to help optimize fulfillment of e-commerce orders. IA’s technology helped Petco model its entire network and quantify the efficiency gains in terms of time-in-transit and shipping cost reduction if Petco were to better leverage its large brick-and-mortar footprint for omni-channel fulfillment.
Citing the Company’s future, Hannah said, “We’re excited about our current development state and product roadmap. We are constantly listening to our customers and pride ourselves on developing tools that make their jobs easier. We don’t like to get into specifics before new products are released, but one of the most exciting things in the pipeline is an all-mode RFP management tool. I can’t say much about it, but it’s going to fill a very big void in the marketplace.”
